THE SUNDROP GARDEN POCAHONTAS

Born in Dallas to Filipino parents, the R&B producer and singer The Sundrop Garden, otherwise known as ((( O ))) moved back to the Philippines on her own aged just 16 specifically to cherish the country’s rich natural resources and to pursue a more sustainable existence. With her debut album ((( 1 ))) out last year, she's has just dropped her second album ((( 2 ))). In keeping with the zen nature of ((( O )))'s music, the album is slow, patient and soulful, even 'Pocahontas', which is one of the more sassy tracks. 'Pocahontas' emerges with entrancing synth bass, and solid electronic beat. ((( O )))'s vocals express a purge of the unwanted: "I could carry your shit, yeah I'm fit for it. You don't pay me enough, but I do it for love. Roll down the river like Pocahontas, I'm gona toss that shit down the river.". It's clear ((( O ))) isn't going to take anyone's shit, and so they shouldn't. -Ellie Rose-Davies
